Husband Shoots Wife With BB Gun
A Loretto man was placed under arrest Friday evening after he allegedly shot his wife in the leg with a BB gun.
Joseph Lee Lester, 28, of 818 Irvin Lane, was arrested on charges of aggravated domestic assault in connection with the incident.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to the home shortly before 7:00 p.m. The victim, age 22, was lying on the couch when deputies entered the home. They report that she had sustained a small round wound to the right thigh. A BB had reportedly penetrated her blue jeans, lodging in the flesh.
The victim stated that she and her husband had been arguing about the electricity being disconnected. She said that she arose and headed for the bedroom, stopping when she heard a snapping noise coming from the direction of her husband. When she turned around, she said, he fired the BB gun, striking her once in the leg.
The victim told deputies that the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m., but that it had been difficult to support her weight on the injured leg, and it had taken her two hours to get to a neighbor’s home to use the telephone.
The victim was transported to Crockett Hospital by members of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service.
Lester was transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He is scheduled for an initial Lawrence County General Sessions court appearance on July 9
